A generator, also known as the main generator, specially used in electric drive diesel locomotive to supply power to traction motors. There are two kinds of traction generators, DC and AC. The DC traction generator supplies power directly to the DC traction motor. When a DC motor is used as an auxiliary motor, it must be powered by a special silicon rectifier. When the three-phase AC asynchronous auxiliary motor is used, the three-phase power supply must be provided by the stationary phase, frequency conversion device or special rotary motor. This special rotating motor, called a split camera, can convert single-phase alternating current into three-phase alternating current.
